Holt Beach was named in memory of Dr. L Emmett Holt through a generous donation by Mrs. Holt enabling the Washington Club to buy the initial piece of lakefront. The clubhouse and boathouse were built by Mrs. Pierpont E. Dutcher in memory of her husband. In 1972 the Club was able to purchase additional lakefront expanding the beach to the size it is today. W. Prescott Hubbard further developed the beach during the seventies creating the low-key, relaxing spot we so enjoy today. |
