Junior Tennis development program

What is the Junior Development Program and when does registration open?
Our summer Junior Development Program is a great way to introduce children to the thrill of intensive tennis instruction, stroke and movement drills, doubles and singles strategy, on court games, awards, prizes, and plenty of fun! This program is for juniors age 7 and up who will be placed into a group with others of similar ability. Sign ups are on a first come, first served basis with priority going to Tennis Members through March 31st. Registration opens to ALL Club Members on April 1st and non-members may begin registering for camp on May 1st. Sign ups are limited to 35 children per week. This will allow a child/counselor ratio of no more than 6:1 during instruction. This ratio is not relevant when kids play their beloved games like FCD, Burn, Doubles Express, and Around The World.

Can I sign up for individual days?
Children signing up for a full week of registration will receive priority over children signing up for individual days. If you are interested in signing up your child for a partial week or individual days for the Junior Development Program, please call the Tennis Shop at (860) 868-7127 48 hours in advance to check availability.

Are there other events my child can participate in if they are members or Junior Solo Members?
Juniors are encouraged to participate in the Parent/Child Tournament, the Junior Davis Cup, and the Junior Club Championships as well as the Teen Tennis Team. For Juniors participating in the program whose families do not have a Tennis Membership, the Washington Tennis Section offers Junior and Solo Junior Memberships that allow children to participate in any of our exciting junior programming at a tennis member rate. Contact Irene Allan at (860) 868-0376 for more information.

Do you hold the Junior Tennis Program during inclement weather?
This year we are happy to continue to provide access to indoor tennis courts for use during inclement weather. On rainy days, the junior tennis day program will be held in the gym at Rumsey Hall. The fee for this option will be $10 each day they play inside at Rumsey. A Rumsey Hall release form MUST be filled out prior to or during drop off on the day of use and will be included in the confirmation email sent the week prior to your registered week.

What happens if I need to cancel my registration?
After June 1st, 2018, cancellations made over two weeks from the date of the Junior Development Program will receive an 80% refund. Cancellations made between one to two weeks from the date of the Junior Development Program will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellation made within one week from date of the Junior Development Program will receive no refund. In the event that you do need to cancel your Junior Development Program registration, contact the tennis section via email at tennis@washingtonclub.net.

Will the Junior Development Tennis Program have a lunch break?
Yes. Children may bring their own lunch or purchase delivery from the Hidden Valley Eatery. Options and cost for purchased lunches will be sent in a confirmation email the week prior to your registered week.

What is the cost of the Junior Tennis Development Program?
$250 per week (Tennis Family Membership, Junior Membership, and Junior Solo Membership) or $325 per week (Non-Club and Non-Tennis Members); Daily fee for members $65 and nonmembers $80
